Just got my newest painting listed and wanted to share it here as well. I must be on a white kick (tho' I must say, I often want to kick myself in the rear for choosing to work in white- which is really hard for me!) because this is the second painting in a row that was composed in this color palette. And guess what, my next painting is of another primarily white iris......what AM I thinking? Anyway, here it is, I'm actually very excited about how it turned out.

This is my newest painting - a swirly, abstract design in deep teal and white. This one has quite a wintery feel to it, I think!
The canvas is 5 x 5 x 1.5" and is painted in acrylics. It's for sale in my etsy shop.

Birds Reflected - Kirigami Mandala
Cynthia Emerlye: I will be gearing up to add many more kirigami mandalas and bifold hearts to my Etsy shop for the holiday season. To do this I will be cutting every night from now through December. I cut on the loveseat (my Night Studio) while watching movies. After cutting ten or twelve, I laminate and package them. You can find my kirigami in my shop at www.EmerlyeArtsKirigami.Etsy .com
Here is one of two mandalas I cut last night, each about a 3/4 movie creation. My daughter likes this one so much she thinks I should frame it instead of laminating it to hang. If so, then it will be in a 10 inch frame instead of the 12 inch frames my larger mandalas are in. This is an 8 inch cutting, although it is a bit more elaborate and complex. The outer edge is folded four times (8 layers.) I then opened it to create the birds in the center, which are folded only twice (4 layers.)

Red's Walk Never stop upon the way
Never trust a stranger friend
No-one knows where it may end
As you're pretty, so be wise
Wolves may lurk in every guise
Now as then, 'tis simple truth
Sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth."

THE USE OF ART IN DEALING WITH GRIEF

July 14, 2008 my Mother was diagnoised with stage four lung cancer. Wow, at that moment my world came to a stop. It was hard was hard that first month, my heart was racing crazily, the tears just would not stop.
What to do to keep my mind from thoughts of her mortality? I found myself in my studio with a blank hardboards, encaustic all around I just began melting them and poring them on my boards. What beautiful spiritual paintings appeared. From a single rose with blackened stems feeding it's petals, this was her cancer my subconscious mind saw. Three other paintings followed with ethereal beings in them. One more floral painting with little angelic faces in it.
What I left out is that my Mother and I share a psychic side. We share the ability to help others with our intuitive intuition.

LOYAL FRIENDS FOR THE WALL
It is always hard to part with something you love. I am a dog lover who's very special friend died in 1991. I have had a hard time dealing with this loss, but what had helped me was painting pet portraits for others. My works are unique in that as I sketch out the pet my mind receives psychic vibrations that am help to rely to the owner.
Here are few of my painting that I am willing to say good bye to.
